Alberto Zaccheroni is a legendary football coach that managed top clubs in Italy (such as Udinese, Milan, Lazio, Inter, Torino, Juventus) and foreign teams including Japan.
He is recently in the news because on February 10th he went to the hospital due to a serious injury after falling down in his home in Italy and hitting his head.
Because of his incredible results working in Japan from 2010 to 2014 he gained strong respect and affection of Japanese people.
In 2010, the first match Zaccheroni took charge, Japan had a historic 1–0 win over Argentina.
His first major competition with Japan was the 2011 AFC Asian Cup, hosted in Qatar. He led the team to their record fourth Asian Cup title, winning 1–0 in the final against Australia.
It looks he was often enjoying Italian food while in Tokyo as he was seen in pizzeria like Pizzeria e Trattoria da Isa (Nakameguro), Pizza Strada (Azabujuban), Pizzeria-Trattoria Napule (Roppongi). In Altamura (Nakameguro, now closed) you could even find Pizza Zaccheroni with Organic buffalo mozzarella, organic ham, basil, parmigiano cheese.
