One of our favorite places for Italian breakfast in Tokyo is definitely Drogheria Sancricca in Shirokane, Minato-ku.
One of the few places with seats outsides, is perfect to eat a cornetto watching a bit of green outside in the terrace area.
It feels like an Italian bar (intended as coffee shop) also because the staff is very friendly and you will want to get here regularly even just to chat a bit and drink a standing espresso. The coffee machine, a Belle Epoque from Elektra, is very interesting too, not only the coffe is delicious, but also the shape is very particular, with an particular retro charm.
Sweets range from maritozzo, freshly filled croissant, several cookies and sospiro, a traditional dessert from Apulia region.
During lunch is possible to taste different kinds of sandwiches and lasagna, while occasionally is also possible to enjoy aperitivo, Italian style. Note that lunch is by reservation only and reservations must be made by the day before.
The store is small with few places, that makes it local and friendly, and in one wall the even managed to display premium Italian products, such as olive oil, pasta, sauces, wine etc.
Curiosity. What is Drogheria and what is Sancricca? Well the second is the surname of the owner, while the first is the ancient name for shop in Italian and might recall the term to indicate a drug store.
